The 33-year-old was charged with violent conduct following a clash with Stoke City midfielder Glenn Whelan at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday.
Vieira is expected to plead guilty to the charge, something that would trigger an automatic three-match ban.
Vieira would miss City’s clash with Liverpool on Sunday, the FA Cup fifth round replay at Stoke and the Premier League clash with Chelsea on February 27.
