Sportmediaset.it says Gamberini is Mancini’s main target for the summer transfer window.
Gamberini’s contract with Fiorentina expires in 2013 and the defender has been a hit at the club since joining in 2005.
Several clubs are reportedly interested in the 27-year-old, but City are favourites to sign him.
