Manchester United are in advanced talks with Ipswich Town over a loan move for left-back Brandon Williams.

The Athletic report that the Championship side are looking to bring the 22-year-old to Portman Road on loan.

Discussion between United and Ipswich have taken place over a deal that would include an option to buy the defender at the end of the season.

Williams spent a season on loan at Ipswich’s rivals, Norwich City, in 2021-22 and made 26 Premier League appearances for the club.

The young defender has been expected to leave United this summer, something also manager Erik ten Hag has indicated.

Ten Hag said: “We need players who are totally with their heads in our team. I won’t say the players you mention, they are not, but it’s also obvious that in this moment they are looking for something else.

“But when they are here they always do their best, every training, Brandon, Donny (van de Beek), I am pleased with their performances. They did a very good pre-season.”
