The People reports that Tiote has impressed United boss Sir Alex Ferguson this season.
The 25-year-old joined Newcastle from Dutch side FC Twente in a £3.5million deal last year.
The tough-tackling Ivory Coast international signed a six-and-a-half year contract at Newcastle in February.
