Richards told The Sun: “Sven has the money and he certainly has the knowledge.
“He has a great track record in club management and the players all have a great deal of respect for him. So he has a good base to work from.”
Richards added: “I hadn’t met him before he took over at the club.
“He’d just left when I got my first England call-up. But he has been there and done it.
“I finally met Sven on the first day back at Carrington. He seems like a really nice guy and we’re all just looking forward to cracking on and getting a bit of a feelgood factor in the camp again.”
