Modric believes Tottenham can still win the title

Spurs are currently eight points behind Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.

Spurs managed a goalless draw with the Premier League leaders at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

“Tottenham still have a chance. We are definitely not out of the title race, even though we didn’t close the gap on United,” Modric told The Sun.

“In our last 14 games we’ve only had one defeat in all competitions.

“That’s excellent for us and we need to keep going.

“Anything is possible. More than anything we have demonstrated Tottenham can compete with the very best teams.

“Spurs are on the same level as United. And even though we haven’t beaten them for 10 years, we showed on Sunday that they are not better than us, we can play with them.

“The shame is we didn’t win – but even a draw is a good result as it’s not only a battle for the title but also a battle to get into the top four.

“Some teams are going to miss out. It’s a big competition to reach the Champions League next season. It’s not only four teams, it’s five or six teams fighting for this fourth place.

“I hope we can achieve that top-four spot again but we need to keep playing like we did against United and we’ll see where it takes us.”
