It was widely believed that Parry chose to sell to the American duo over a rival bid from the more popular Dubai International Capital (DIC), but Parry told London’s Evening Standard:
“It wasn’t a case of us rejecting Dubai. They were the preferred bidder but they walked away.”
Parry added some of the boardroom unrest during the Americans’ reign was due to their strained relationship:
“I think one of the fundamental [problems] was that they actually didn’t get on terribly well with each other.”
