PFA chief backs Henry

Taylor believes the Republic of Ireland should not blame the former Arsenal striker for their failure to qualify for the World Cup.

William Gallas headed in the controversial winner for France against the Irish on Wednesday, after Thierry Henry twice handled the ball before crossing.

“I don’t think it is fair to put that burden on Thierry Henry,” he told Sky Sports News.

“In general he has been top quality for the game and I wouldn’t want to condemn him for that.”
