Police warns Spurs fans ahead of United clash

Berbatov left White hart Lane for United for £30.75million int he summer.

A police spokeswoman told the Sun: “An appropriate policing plan is in place for this weekend’s match at Tottenham.

“Should any apparent offences come to light they will be dealt with appropriately.”

A club spokesman said: “As with all home fixtures our stewards have been briefed to listen out for anything untoward which is said, sung or chanted in the stands.

“We will be employing the same practices as we would when any former player returns.”

Bernie Kingsley, chairman of the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust, said: “Clearly we are in the spotlight.

“I don’t expect Berbatov will be welcomed back with open arms and he is going to get some stick.

“But we would encourage supporters not to do anything which would lead to FA action.”
