The 23-year-old is currently on loan at Fratton Park from Tottenham until the New Year, but Hart is keen to extend his stay until the end of the season.
“Jamie – like most of the players we signed in August – has fitted in brilliantly,” Hart told The News.
“I think he enjoys it here and I think he’d like to stay.
“Him saying he doesn’t want to walk away sums up his attitude, but every player we’ve got is determined to get this right in very difficult circumstances.
“That is the sort of attitude we need.
“I’ve gone on record saying we’d like to keep him and that hasn’t changed and Jamie has said he’d like to stay.”
