Portsmouth striker Utaka aim to sink Liverpool

Utaka joined Pompey in a £8million move from Rennes.

He said: “It will be a tough match but I’ve been looking forward to games against the big teams like Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle, Arsenal and Chelsea.

“We know Liverpool have started the season well, which will boost their confidence, and they are favoured.

“But we have to make it difficult for them to play and earn even a draw.

“We are chasing maximum points to get us back on track and that will be the target. We have to hit the ground running against them.

“Whether I score or not does not matter, what matters is maximum points for the team — although I have to admit it would be nice to get a goal against Liverpool.

“Against Arsenal, we worked hard but paid dearly for some silly errors earlier in the game and it was tough to get back into our normal rhythm.

“You can’t make such mistakes against teams like Arsenal or Liverpool or you get punished.”
