Europe’s top five leagues will all close their transfer window on the same date this summer.

In the last summer transfer window Premier League clubs spent an massive £1.9 billion and expectations have been high this summer as well.

The 2023 summer transfer window is well under way and the Premier League clubs have been very busy.

Arsenal have splashed around £200million in total so far this summer. The Gunners’ biggest signing was the arrival of England international Declan Rice in a club-record £105 million deal from London rivals West Ham.

Yet another player to join Arsenal in a big-money move, was the arrival of Kai Havertz from Chelsea in a £65 million move. Havertz failed to impress for the Blues last season, but Mikel Arteta seems to have a plan for the German striker.

Chelsea confirmed what we all knew already, that French forward Christopher Nkunku signed a six-year contract and joined the club in a £52 million deal from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

Manchester United spent big last summer and are expected to be very active again in the 2023 summer transfer window. United have already signed Mason Mount in a £55 million deal from Chelsea and goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan in a £47 million deal. United also signed young Dane Rasmus Hojlund in a £64million deal from Atalanta early in August and hold high hopes that the striker can emulate what Erling Braut Haaland has become for rivals City. The Red Devils continue to be linked with a double digit amount of player’s across Europe. United boss Erik Ten Hag has also been active on reducing his squad, with players such as David De Gea, Anthony Elanga, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Charlie Savage and Alex Telles leaving the club so far, with several expected to follow.

Newcastle have not spent as much as people might expected, so far, with the club needing to keep an eye on the financial fair play rules. But the Magpies have been active with the signing of Sandro Tonali in a £52 million deal from AC Milan, the arrival of Harvey Barnes from Leicester in a £39 million deal and Yakuba Minteh joining from Danish side OB for £6 million.

Liverpool have also been very active in the summer transfer window trying to replace a number of players leaving the club, including Roberto Firmingo to Al-Ahli, Naby Keita to Werder Bremen and James Milner to Brighton.
