Premier League preview – Week 30

Chelsea v Tottenham

Key Battle: Chelsea have improved of late and Frank Lampard will hope to put on a better show than against Man City in the week, but he’s up against one of the best midfielders in the league, Scott Parker.

Player to Watch: Gareth Bale was brilliant against Stoke and was unlucky not to score.

Talking Point: Chelsea have improved but are sitting back more now. Spurs may have the territorial advantage, and have the firepower to punish their rivals.

Prediction: 1-2

Arsenal v Aston Villa

Key Battle: Tomas Rosicky has been brilliant of late and Chris Hurd will be tasked with keeping him as quiet as possible

Player to Watch: Theo Walcott has been much improved of late and his pace could stretch a dodgy Villa defence

Talking Point: Six wins in a row against difficult opponents – now with an easier game at home, will Arsenal continue their form?

Prediction: 2-0

Bolton v Blackburn

Key Battle: Yakubu will look to terrorise the Bolton defence and Zat Knight, who will have to be at his best.

Player to Watch: Junior Hoilett has been in sparkling form for the visitors and can trouble Bolton

Talking Point: After a traumatic week for Bolton, how will their players react? They may not have their minds on the game, understandably, and Blackburn are in good form

Prediction: 1-2

Liverpool v Wigan

Key Battle: Steven Gerrard will hope his team can bounce back from their shock defeat to QPR and will have a battle with Mo Diame in midfield here

Player to Watch: Luis Suarez hasn’t scored much of late, but he has played well and come very, very close.

Talking Point: Liverpool struggle against weak teams at home but Wigan are more open than most

Prediction: 3-1

Norwich v Wolves

Key Battle: Wolves will come into this one hoping for something anything, and Karl Henry will hope to win the midfield battle against Anthony Pilkington for Norwich

Player to Watch: Matt Jarvis is the man Wolves look to often for inspiration and he is key to their survival hopes

Talking Point: Wolves have been appalling of late and Norwich have the strength to punish them.

Prediction: 3-0

Sunderland v QPR

Key Battle: Taye Taiwo is a good attacking full back but up against James McLean he may have a tough time.

Player to Watch: Bobby Zamora’s ability to hold the ball and bring others into play will be key for QPR

Talking Point: After a surprising and barely deserved win over Liverpool in the week, can QPR build on that?

Prediction: 1-0

Swansea v Everton

Key Battle: The metronome passing of Leon Britton will have to be broken up by Marouane Fellaini if Everton are to beat the Swans

Player to Watch: Gylfi Siggurdson has been superb since coming to Wales and his precision could help Swansea carve open Everton.

Talking Point: Swansea should have a physical advantage having played last Saturday whilst Everton have had two games in a week and a cup replay coming up

Prediction: 2-0

Stoke v Man City

Key Battle: The lump that is Dean Whitehead is up against the skill of David Silva in an intriguing midfield tussle

Player to Watch: Samir Nasri showed his class in the week against Chelsea and Man City will hope he produces more of that here

Talking Point: Stoke’s rugby style causes trouble for most opponents, and City will have to be at their best to get something here

Prediction: 0-0

West Brom v Newcastle

Key Battle: West Brom will hope that Peter Odemwingie can do what he did to Newcastle earlier this season and cause their defence and Fabricio Coloccini problems.

Player to Watch: Demba Ba will hope to get the goals flowing for Newcastle in their battle for fifth.

Talking Point: Two well organised teams with skill and firepower up front.

Prediction: 1-1

Man Utd v Fulham

Key Battle: Wayne Rooney will look to get the better of Brede Hangeland here and he could have a field day

Player to Watch: Antonio Valencia is so often the key for United and his ability to provide telling crosses for Rooney will be vital

Talking point: Fulham have an awful record at Old Trafford – will United keep up that record?

Prediction: 4-0
