Pieters joined PSV from Utrecht in the summer of 2007 and has developed into a key player for PSV.
“When we signed Erik from Utrecht about three years ago, he was brought in as a hot prospect for the future and he inked a contract reflecting this status,” PSV’s technical director Marcel Brands was quoted as saying by Eindhovens Dagblad.
“He has since developed into an important first team member and has even made his official debut for Netherlands’ national side. He deserves a reward for his good development.”
