The 30-year-old has signed a deal that will keep him at PSV until the end of the season.
An option for two further seasons has been included in the midfielder’s contract.
Van der Meyde has been without a club since his release by Everton last year.
“I want to be important to PSV,” the Dutchman commented. “The chance to return to football with a major club like PSV is excellent.”
“It does not matter where I have played previously, it is now that matters,” he added.
