The 19-year-old has falled down the pecking order at White Hart Lane, following the return of Pascal Chimbonda.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp said: “It would do him good to go out on loan but he is a young player who we hope has got a big future here.”
Alan Hutton is also set to return for Spurs, something that will see Gunter fall even further down the pecking order.
