Rodriguez signs new Villarreal deal

The new deal will keep the defender at the club until 2014.

“I am very pleased because this is what I have been waiting for. I have been here for the best times and it is my home, therefore the negotiations were not a problem. The club was very interested in my renewal and there was no problem on my part,” the official Villarreal website quote him as saying.

“My agent and [Jose Manuel] Llaneza [Villarreal general manager] have been talking about the deal and they have come to an agreement. I only think year by year, but I hope that I can give some happiness to the club by winning a title in the five seasons coming up.”
