Scharner keen on leaving Wigan

Scharner’s contract with Wigan is set to expire in the summer and the 29-year-old will not take up the option of another year.

“Every year, we fight against relegation,” he stated. “And that absolutely does not interest me any more.”

Scharner also appeared to criticise manager Roberto Martinez.

“In England, a relegation battle is like going to war,” he told Sportnet. “We signed ten players in the summer who are not aware of this because they had no Premier League experience.

“A draw on Monday [against Liverpool] would be no use. We need three points so that our negative run is finally over.”
