Redknapp is regarded as the favourite to replace Fabio Capello as boss for the Three Lions.
He said: “I’m English and what Englishman wouldn’t want the job?
“We still have a manager at the moment and while that’s the case it’s difficult to talk about it.
“But there isn’t an Englishman – whether it’s me, Roy Hodgson, Sam Allardyce or anyone – who would turn the job down.
“This is our country and we’d all love to manage our country.
“Not knowing the language properly must be difficult.
“There are times when you need to get things across to the players quickly.
“I’d find it hard to go to Italy and get a grasp of the language.
“But the players haven’t performed and it’s the whole package that hasn’t worked in this World Cup.”
