Taylor’s current contract at St James’ Park is set to expire at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has recently been strongly linked with a move to Premier League giants Arsenal.
“It’s been a difficult year for me with injuries, but it looks as if it could be finishing on a high,” said Taylor in the Daily Star.
He added: “I have been very impressed with the new manager. Since he came in, he has been absolutely spot-on.
“Within a day or two, he sat me down in his office and made it clear he wants me to be here. It was music to my ears.
“Everyone knows how much I want to stay here, so for him to say he will do everything he can for me was brilliant.”
