Berbatov has been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea in recent days.
Jenas said: “Berbatov is up there with the best I’ve played with. It’s a pleasure to play with him.
“He’s strong and aggressive, scores goal and has a great touch. That’s all you can ask for.
“In terms of talent, he’s probably the best I’ve played with. I’ve come across some top players. Shearer is a natural finisher but with Berba’s touch you sometimes feel like applauding when you’re out there because he’s a class act.
“Compared with Shearer, Al was more physical and always up for the fight, not that Berba isn’t.
“Shearer is more of a left-foot, right-foot, head-down type of player. It wasn’t pretty but he always scored.
“Berba’s more of a player who likes to drop into holes and links up play as well. It’s inevitable he’ll be linked with clubs like Manchester United.
“He’s playing well and he’s going to attract interest but hopefully the club will make sure he stays with us.”
