The 32-year-old’s previous deal was set to expire at the end of this season, but his new deal will keep him at the club until the end of next season.
“It was always my desire to extend my deal for one more year,” Van Bommel told the club’s official website, www.fcb.de.
Van Bommel added: “I want success with this team. That’s our goal this year and next year.
“If we achieve that then we will talk again.”
