Van Nistelrooy joined Hamburg from Spanish giants Real Madrid in the January transfer window.
“I get asked a lot whether I will return to Netherlands to end my career, but that’s not really an issue for me at the moment,” said Van Nistelrooy to Hamburger Abendblatt.
“I know how quickly things can go in the world of football, so it doesn’t make any sense to look too far ahead. There’s no way back once I decide to hang up my boots. I have several more years to go though.
“I want to enjoy my career until the end. If Hamburg decide to offer me a contract extension, I’d certainly consider it. Joining HSV was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. There weren’t a lot of teams that still put their faith in me after my injury problems, but Hamburg did so. I won’t forget that.”
