The 33-year-old is out of contract at Real at the end of the season and it is not expected the Dutchman will be offered a new deal.
Van Nistelrooy said: “In January I can negotiate, see what comes and what the club does. It’s a matter of playing and getting my form back.”
Spurs came close to signing the former Manchester United star for just £1million last summer, but the club baulked at his £100,000-a-week wages.
But The Sun says Van Nistelrooy’s comments has put Spurs back on red alert.
