Venables said in his column in The Sun: “Arsenal may be ahead on points at the top of the Premier League table – but I’m tipping Manchester United to overhaul them and clinch a second successive title.
“One of the reasons I believe they will come through is Carlos Tevez, one of the best players we have ever seen in the Premier League.
“When United first signed him I heard people dismissing the Argentine striker as a luxury player that United didn’t need.
“But Tevez is no luxury. He is skilful, hardworking and a player any team would want in its starting 11.
“Tevez showed at West Ham how much influence he can have on a team’s performance.
“He kept them up last season almost single-handed and after easing his way in at United, is turning himself into one of their match winners.
“I had seen him in action for Argentina even before he came to this country and it was obvious he was a special talent.
“United have immense strength in depth this season which I feel gives them the edge over the rest.”
