Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr’s contract renewal with Spanish giants Real Madrid continues to be in limbo.

Despite repeated assurances from sources close to the club over the past year that the Brazilian’s extension was imminent and “a done deal,” the official confirmation remains elusive.

Vinicius, whose current contract runs until June 30, 2024, could see his agreement extended until 2027, with a staggering release clause set at 1 billion euro, according to Spanish outlet SPORT.

The talented forward joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2018 on a contract lasting until 2024. Over the seasons, he has blossomed into one of Madrid’s vital offensive assets. However, while insiders insist that the extension has been settled, the clock is ticking, with no official word from the club.

While the 23-year-old star has not spoken about his contract’s status, he recently expressed his love for the club. “It’s always an honour to play here at Real Madrid. I love the fans and their affection for me,” he said, emphasizing his commitment. “I’m thrilled to play here, and I want to continue playing for Real Madrid my entire life.”
