The Arsenal winger came on towards the end of Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Leeds, and helped rescue a point after winning a penalty in the 90th minute. Just moments previously, Arsenal thought they had another penalty when Walcott was fouled in the area, but the England man has admitted he simulated the foul.
“I was trying to win the penalty. I said to one of their players: ‘Would you have done it?’ and he said he probably would have. I am not the sort of player to do that, but I own up to it and apologise. It’s something I don’t want to see in my game. I am not happy with myself.”
