Weir blow for Everton

Toffees assistant manager Alan Irvine said after the match last night: “David has gone to hospital.

“He was knocked out so unfortunately we are going to lose him for three weeks.

“He’s okay, but he’s gone for tests and we aren’t expecting any more bad news other than he obviously has to be out for a few weeks.

“He was conscious by the time he was stretchered off and he was conscious when he was sent to hospital.

“The incident was a complete accident, two people going for a ball and David came off worst. He’ll be held overnight just as a precaution. The bad news is that it’s another player out, and we’re getting down to the bare bones.”
