Wenger wanted to bring in Carini as a long-term replacement for David Seaman, but the Uruguay international failed a medical.
“I don’t know if he would have been a good signing, we will never know, but Carini could have been an Arsenal player,” Wenger said on Tf1.
“He failed the medical because of a hip bone problem whereas everything was sorted regarding a transfer.
“But today, as you can see, he is playing very well, and he could have been a good player for us.”
