The Mirror reports that West Brom boss Roy Hodgson is keen to be reunited with the marksman.
Hodgson signed Johnson in a £10.5million deal while in charge at Fulham in August 2008.
The 30-year-old has been struggling with injuries during his time at Craven Cottage.
