Friedrich joined Wolfsburg from Hertha Berlin for €2million in the summer, but has been struggling with a back injury ever since.
“The plan is that he will return to training with the team next week after he has completed his rehabilitation programme,” Wolfsburg assistant coach Pierre Littbarski told Bild.
