Spurs are struggling and Woodgate insists the board must back manager Harry Redknapp in the upcoming transfer market.
Woodgate said: “We need as many top-quality players as we can get. It’s important to recruit players in January.
“We are in a relegation battle and we have to keep improving. Every team has to buy players.
“If you look at this time last season, Spurs signed players and we have to keep on buying.”
