The wing-back has become Chelsea’s third signing, following the arrivals of Daniel Sturridge from Manchester City and goalkeeper Ross Turnbull from Middlesbrough.
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti said: “Zhirkov, Sturridge – these are Chelsea players.
“Zhirkov is naturally on the left. I think he can do all the work and can play in defence and in between.”
