Bale has been linked with clubs such as Inter Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United after impressing for Spurs this season.
Anderton said: “Gareth has become a fantastic player and I can see why so many clubs are chasing him.
“It would be interesting to see if someone made a massive bid how Tottenham would react but if I was Gareth I would not even think about leaving.
“He is playing in a great side, under a manager who has a tremendous record at getting the best out of people.
“Tottenham will certainly not want to lose him because he has become an important part of their side.”
