Leicester boss rules out Vardy exit

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri says the Premier League's top goalscorer, Jamie Vardy, will not leave the club in January.

Vardy has so far this season scored nine goals in nine matches for Leicester in the Premier League.

Ranieri said: “I hope he can continue. He is a fantastic player for goals, but it’s not important to think about goals or not. It’s about how he plays for the team.

“We don’t sell him. He is very happy here and it’s too soon to talk about this. He will stay with us and nobody goes in January – not Riyad [Mahrez], not Jamie, not anyone.

“We want to improve and achieve our goal, and for that we need all our best players.

“It’s the first year Jamie has shown his attitude in the Premier League. He scored 16 in the Championship and now it’s the start of his learning in the top championship. If he can continue in this way, it will be fantastic.”

Vardy recently made his debut for England.
