The new deal will keep the 22-year-old at the Estadio da Luz until 2015.
He said: “I am happy because it shows that Benfica have total confidence in me.
“My dream is to go on and win many titles now with this club.”
Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing the young defender.
“David Luiz is a key player for us now and in the future,” read a club statement.
