Shawcross has been a hit in the Premier League this season.
United inserted a £12million buy-back clause into Shawcross’ contract when they sold the youngster to Stoke in the January transfer window of 2008.
Pulis said: “If Manchester United come in for anybody, it’s very difficult to stop players going there, that’s a fact. You have to accept that.
“But the only thing I will say is Ryan’s very happy here.
“He’s signed a new contract, his wife’s just had a baby and if you speak to him, I don’t think he’s been happier in his life.”
