The Telegraph reports that both clubs are aware of the existence of a release clause in Ba’s contract believed to be around just £7million.
Ba, who is away for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations, has recently stated that he will not be leaving Newcastle in January.
Newcastle could be keen to offer Ba a new deal that will see the striker’s release clause being removed.
Ba signed a three-year contract worth £35,000 a week plus £20,000 per first-team appearance, when he joined the Magpies in the summer.
