The Northern Ireland international impressed while on loan at the Stadium of Light last term.
Evans said: “The boss has made it clear I won’t be going out on loan again.
“I’ll be back at United, involved in pre-season and he said that I will get games.
“I’m a United fan. It’s been my aim since I signed to get into the first team. The incentive is there now.
“I want to be good enough for United.”
