News of the World claims Milner has told friends he does not want United, due to his Leeds allegiance.
The 24-year-old, who is being linked with United, Chelsea and Manchester City, is instead keen on a move to Liverpool.
Sources close to Milner told News of the World: “Being born in Leeds, there is no way James wants to play for Manchester United.
“His preferred Premier League club is Liverpool.”
