Valencia president Manuel Llorente has reportedly met with Jovanovic’s agent, Nikola Franco, to discuss a pre-contract agreement, according to Super Deporte.
Reports suggest Atletico have tabled a contract offer that Valencia cannot match, due to their financial situation.
The 28-year-old’s contract with Belgian side Standard Liege is set to expire in the summer and he will be able to leave the club on a free transfer.
