The 25 year old moved to Derby from Burton Albion last season but only managed 19 appearances after repeated injuries to his groin.
The club’s official website stated that: “Jake’s groin has not settled and he is having surgery today to hopefully solve the problem.
“He should be up and running in four to six weeks.”
