Coppell told the Evening Post: “Bobby has been under controlled rehabilitation from an operation.
“He wanted the operation in America because he knew the surgeon. We felt we didn’t have the right not to allow that and insist on him having it here with a surgeon who had not yet been identified.
“We were comfortable with him going home and he has got to be non-weight bearing for six weeks, so there is no way he can come back yet as he just can’t get around.”
