Hunt signs new Reading deal

The new deal will keep the 27-year-old with the Royals until the summer of 2013.

Manager Brian McDermott said: “We’re delighted that Noel has agreed to stay for another couple of years. As everybody knows, he’s a great guy and you can see the work he puts in on the pitch. On top of that he does a lot of work off the pitch, in the community and with local charities, he’s a real ambassador for us and as I said we’re delighted.”

Hunt said: “It’s something we both wanted, a lot of players in my situation let their contract run out and see what happens, but I didn’t have a doubt in my mind and I love it here.

“I’m buying into what the gaffer is selling and everyone else is as well. It makes us a good team and it’s the place to be for me. Hopefully we can get up to the play-off positions and kick on.

“I remember when I first ever came down to Reading to see Stephen, before I’d even come close to signing, and I had a feeling that I’d give my left hand to play for the club, I thought it’d be perfect. When we spoke about the contract last week I still felt the same.

“When you still have that hunger to play for a club, it’s a good place to be. I love it here, the fans are great, we have a great team spirit, a great club, great people involved and I’m delighted to be here.”
