Lennon keen on England recall

Lennon could be given a chance as Theo Walcott is out with a long-term injury.

“There is a chance to get back in the England squad on the right,” said Lennon.

“Having such a taste of it and going to the World Cup was great, so that’s definitely been my big aim for some time.

“I was happy to see Theo do so well for England. He had so much pressure on him and he never got to play in the World Cup.

“I know what a good player he is and I was glad to see him do well, but it did seem another step back for me as there are still quite a few players ahead of me in the England set-up.

“Sometimes it isn’t good to see players jump ahead of you, but I wish Theo well.

“I watch every England game and I always think, ‘I wish I was there’. Once you get a taste of it you want to be involved. I’ve been out of it a while now and I definitely want to get back in.

“I’ve been in the Under-21s and Stuart Pearce obviously has a lot of involvement with the seniors.

“He just tells me to keep playing my game for Spurs and the Under-21s and, hopefully, my chance will come again.”
