United won the Carling Cup following their 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the Final at Wembley on Sunday.
“It’s a great occasion and I think people speak about getting to cup finals, but the only way you enjoy them it to win,” said Fletcher.
“I’ve been in a couple of cup finals that we’ve lost and it’s not the best so I think the joy of not losing in the best thing really, because it means you’ve enjoyed your day.
“It’s important for Manchester United to win these competitions and hopefully it’ll kick-start us in the Premier League and the Champions League.”
