The Sun reports that United chiefs will fly to Lisbon today for talks over a deal for the 23-year-old.
United have already had a £7million bid for Patricio rejected as Sporting Lisbon want £12million.
Patricio has made 167 first-team appearances for Sporting Lisbon and United are keen to sign him as he is more experienced than Atletico Madrid keeper David de Gea.
