Fletcher told the Daily Star: “The manager has increased competition for places this summer by signing Owen and Anderson, so it is going to be a challenge for me this season.
“But you get that every season at United and although it is going to be difficult, I just have to make sure I do what I can to get that place.
“The manager is committed to having a big squad because of all the games we play,” he added. “But it’s obviously much stronger now with the deals he has done.
“Nobody wants to be left out and I am no different.
“I want to play, no matter who the manager has signed.”
