Rooney missed United’s Champions League game at Shakhtar Donetsk with a shin injury.
But United boss David Moyes has revealed that the shin injury is not serious and the striker should be ready to return to action this weekend.
Moyes said: “It’s not that serious. He took a clash of shins with Danny Welbeck and it’s just swollen up.”
When asked if Rooney would be fit for the clash with Sunderland on Saturday, Moyes said: “I hope so.”
