Owen has previously revealed his frustrations with the lack of first-team starts since joining the club from Newcastle last year.
The former Liverpool striker’s contract with United is set to expire at the end of the season.
“I never thought I would start every game when I joined the club and I have never complained about anything,” Owen told The Guardian.
“I signed a two-year contract, I’m only 60% into that and hopefully we will talk [about extending it] before the end of the season.”
